Backflow prevention device testing and certification in Humboldt County
Maintenance and certification testing of backflow prevention devices.
A backflow preventer keeps water that has been inside your building, your boiler, or your irrigation system from being pulled backward into the public supply. Water districts require the device to be tested on a schedule, and they want the paperwork.
Maples handles both halves of the job. The service department does maintenance and certification testing on existing devices. The contracting side installs and certifies commercial backflow assemblies on new construction.

Questions
Backflow Testing questions
Who needs backflow testing?
Generally, commercial buildings, multi-family properties, buildings with fire sprinklers or boilers, and many irrigation systems. Your water provider decides who needs a device and how often it gets tested. If you received a notice, you are on the list.
What happens if my device fails?
Most failures come down to worn rubber and springs inside the device. Those can usually be rebuilt and retested. If the body itself is damaged or the model is obsolete, replacement is the fix.
Does Maples install backflow devices on new buildings?
Yes. Installation and certification of commercial backflow prevention devices is a listed specialty of the contracting division, Wayne Maples Plumbing & Heating.
